Blood Sugar Control Linked to Memory Decline, Study Says - NYTimes.com

Spikes in blood sugar can take a toll on memory by affecting the dentate gyrus, an area of the brain within the hippocampus that helps form memories, a new study reports. Researchers said the effects can be seen even when levels of blood sugar, or glucose, are only moderately elevated, a finding that may help explain normal age-related cognitive decline, since glucose regulation worsens with age. . . Since glucose regulation is improved with physical activity, Dr. Small said, “We have a behavioral recommendation — physical exercise.”

The smarmy, stingy, chambray-shirted Don Angel of Worldwide Business Group is a terrifying new breed of office tyrant poised to send shivers down the spines of wage slaves everywhere. Peroxide-haired with a smeared-on grin, he runs his shonky operation. . . But something is missing from his delusional corporate world: an employee. Enter Ray Leonard, the shattered remains of a features writer for The Australian. After six years battling depression and chronic fatigue syndrome, Ray just wants a job, any job. His desperation and Don's stupendous immorality make for some caustically funny television.
So, I wasn't sure if I was going to watch Very Small Business; cringe-comedy really isn't my thing, apart from The Office (UK version), which I had to persist with, and only came to love gradually. But it seems one of the characters is billed as having CFS, and I'm definitely going to catch it now. I'm interested to see how they deal with it. The "and depression" part is a bit worrying; they're not the same thing, of course, but so often get mushed together by people who aren't well versed in the illness, and sometimes even by those who are. But it's not often that people with, or recovered from, CFS are used in Film, TV or fiction, so it's definitly a must-see now.

Memory Lane: Sweet and Sour theme song

"This is the theme song to the 1983/84 ABC teen series 'Sweet and Sour'. It features the main actors Tracey Mann, David Reyne, Sandie Lillingston & Arky Michael - however they are not the actual performers.

The lead vocals are performed by Deborah Conway who was lead vocalist for the band Do-Re-Mi and the music performed by musicians from several popular bands at that time.
